CHRISTMAS CARD 2012 #1

Sometimes, I just don't want to take the time to use my die cutting machine, so I use premade die cuts. Jolees has some really cut ones out there, like this Nut Cracker. I used the Spellbinders Grand Calibur Nestabilities "Large Labels" die set through my Big Kick (works just fine). Petite Ovals and the tag I cut out a rectangle and used a Tonic Studio Duo Corner Punch-Ticket Tag. The sentiment is embossed with Tim Holtz Ranger super fine embossing powder in Gold.

BIRTHDAY CARD for my husband

My husband is an 11 year old scout leader and their patch has a racoon on it, so I wanted to make a card with using a racoon image. I found this little guy on my Hallmark Card making software. I printed the image onto matte photo paper and cut it out using my Spellbinders petite oval and scalloped oval sets. The thin tan frame around the oval was made by using two of the petite ovals. I cut one oval and then placed and centered the next smaller die on top it and ran it through the machine again. It was a little difficult getting the frame glued into place. I used Zig two way glue pen with the ball point to adhere the frame. The the tan mat was made with cardstock that comes pre-embossed, but you could emboss your own. I used Fall colors because Fall is his favorite season of the year. I used the Spell binders Shapeabilites dies "Ribbon Banners" for the sentiment.

BIRTHDAY CARD For a Friend

I used Spellbinders Grand Calibur Nestabilites dies "Large Labels"(which I was able to fit through my Big Kick just fine) for the rectangle shapes. Petite Ovals and the grommet tags set for the sentiment. I traced and cut out the center of the tag on a white piece of cardstock and stamped the sentiment. I got the image from one of my card making or scrapbooking softwares and printed it on matte photo paper.

Get Well Card for Brother Jack

My brother Jack was in a motorcycle accident earlier this week and I wanted to send him a get well card. I thought since his name is Jack that this would be amusing to him.

The Jack-in-the-box is from Cricut Lite cartridge, B is for Boy. I cut the image at 5".
The base is 5"x7" from Bazzill Card Shoppe   Cardstock, Candy Corn. The navy layer is 4 5/8" x 6 5/8". The checkered layer is 4 3/8"x 6 3/8" and the paper is from DCWV, All about Boys. The orange strip is 1 1/2" x  6 3/8".  I cut two two 3 inch circles with a circle punch. I don't remember the size of the smaller circle and scalloped circle. The strip and sentiment circle are also from Bazzill, Candy Corn. The jute ribbon I picked up at Michael's in the $1 ribbon bin.

Anniversary Card

I normally don't go for bling, but my daughter Hannah does. When she was a teenager she signed her name with STAR as her middle name and then drew a star at the end of her name. No, "star"  is not her middle name, she just wanted to bling things up a little bit.
So for her 2nd anniversary card I HAD to have bling.  I copied the idea from a card I made for a challenge a few days ago. Her wedding colors were yellow, black and white, so I wanted to use those colors for their card.

I used DCWV "Glitter Stack" for the piece cut diamonds and the black printed  paper mat and "Lemon Flower" stack for the yellow paper. The base is Bazzill Smoothies "Flintstone". I cut the hearts with Spellbinders "Classic Scallop Hearts" set using the smallest die in the set. The rhinestone bling is from Recollections.

Birthday Card for Adult Son

This is a fun card for my son who is turning 27 this month. When he was a little toddler, he had one of these little tikes cars and practically lived in it. He recently bought a car so I wanted to do a car theme anyway. I tucked some money behind the gas pump and wrote free where the cost of the gas usually rings up. I think he will
especially like that.

This is an S Fold card.

Recipe: The paper and the robot in the car are from DCWV "Monsters and Robots".
The green is from Recollections 12 x 12 value pack.
The base is 5"x 12" folded in half and then the front is folded back in half again, making it  5" x 6". It fit in a standard  5" x 7" card envelope.
The car is cut @ 4" from Cricut Lite "B is for Boy" and the gas pump is cut @ 4" from "Disney Cars". I cut the gas pump base out three times one in yellow, one in black and one in gray and then altered them by hand. I cut the pieces so to cover the hose with black and nosel with gray. The Sentiment is from CARDS TV STAMPS.
The sentiment on the gas pump is from Hero Arts. The car and the sentiment are on foam tape.

Cardz TV Challenge # 15 BLING!!!!

This is my entry for Cardz TV Challenge.

The challenge: Bling it Up!

I first chose the  sparkly pink flowers from some Recollections flowers I had from Michaels. The center gems come from Heidi Grace. I wanted the paper to match the pink flowers, but I couldn't find anything (blingy) enough. I went to my two DCWV Glitter Stacks and found some really glittery black and gray papers. They don't really match the flowers, but I think they provide an interesting contrast. The silver glitter cardstock is from Jo Ann's and is sold in single sheets. I cut the diamond shapes out of one of the pieces of the DCWV glitter paper. The double rhinestone strip is from Recollections.

Card base is BAZZILL CARD SHOPPE "Licorice" 5.50"x 8". I had to make this a little larger than usual in order to fit on all the flowers and layers.
Striped layer is 5 1/4" x 7 3/4".
Black layer is 4 7/16" x 7 7/16".
Silver glitter cardstock is 3 7/8 x  7 3/16".
The diamond layer was cut out from a sheet of patterned paper.

Cricut Cardz Challenge # 116 -

This is my entry in the current Cricut Cardz Challenge.

Inside of card

I don't usually use the card feature on cartridges, so this was a challenge to me.
I went directly to the Cricut "Wild Card" cartridge because I knew it would contain
lots of card images. This card had to have a Holloween theme, while I was looking at all the different shapes, I came across this one and it kind of reminded me of a crescent moon.  We all know that witches and moons go together. And of course, you can't have a bright yellow moon without a few bats flying around.

Recipe:

Base - Cricut Wild Card "Circle" pg. 48  BAZZILL CARD SHOPPE "Whirlypop" cut  at  5". I then embossed the front of the base with the Sizzix "Wild Dashes" texture plate.
Moon- I also cut from pg 48, using the Liner layer at 5" and used only the center for the moon. I used Bazzill Smoothies "Banana Bliss" cardstock.
Star paper surrounding the moon- I cut from pg 48, using the Liner layer at 5" and used only the outside of the liner.
Bats- Cut from Recollections black cardstock. Wild Cards cartridge pg 68, Icon layer. I cut two of each-  1",  and 1 1/4"  bats for the inside. I cut one of each- 2" and 2 1/4" bats for the cover of the card. I colored the bats with Sakura "Glaze" gel pen in black to give it a glossy finish. I probably could have use Glossy Accents and might, if I do this again.
Witch- I used Autumn Celebrations cartridge "Witch" pg. 26. Cut at 3 1/4". The only change I made was to use a greenish cardstock for the face of the witch.
The sentiment is from Cardz TV Stamps, " Spooky Sayings". I curled the stamp onto the stamp block to shape it to fit the moon. Worked great.

CREEPY CRAWLIES

I have decided to play along with some challenges and this looks like a fun one to enter. I have lots of punches so I thought I would give this one a try.
I am not very computer savvy, but here is the link to Paper Playtime's site.

I used Martha Stewart large spider punch and the large spider web border punch, but you can substitute the punch around the page, Spider Web punch. The sentiment is from Cardz TV Stamps stamp set "Spooky Sayings".

Recipe:
Layers-
I used BAZZILL CARD SHOPPE "Licorice" for the 5"x7" card base.
next-Green Paper with a slight swirly texture print 4 7/8" x 6 7/8".
next-Striped print paper 4 3/4" x 6 3/4".
next-Recollections black cardstock  4 1/4" x 6 1/4".
next-Orange print paper 4 1/8" x 6 1/8".
next-Green Paper with a slight swirly texture print 4" x 6".

The spider web is in Bazzill Smoothies "Orange Slice" with Recollections black cardstock as a blackout. The spiders are also Recollections black cardstock coated with Versa Mark watermark stamp pad and then coated with Stampendous Detail Black "Opaque" embossing powder. The web is made from 10 lb. hemp cord available in the jewelry crafting department. The eyes are from Recollections (Michaels brand) adhesive back rhinestones. The sentiment is also stamped with the Versa Mark and embossed with the "Opaque" powder.
